Birchbox

Today I thought I'd do something slightly different and show you my latest discovery which is Birchbox. For those unfamiliar with Birchbox, it's a monthly beauty subscription service which sends out a box of samples and sometimes full size items each month, if you like the samples you can purchase the full size products on their website. I'd like to also point out that I'm not paid or sponsored by any companies and that all the products featured in my reviews are purchased with my own money.
Each month the boxes have a different theme or team up with a magazine, November's box was teamed with Tatler magazine. The packaging was peacock feather themed and I have to say that I loved it and I'm going to keep the box to store my jewellery in.

When you sign up to Birchbox you create a profile with your preferences so that they tailor make the box to your beauty needs. So for example you can add in your profile that you have blonde or brunette hair, oily or dry skin and whether you're interested in receiving just makeup samples or hair samples. So subscribers should never find themselves with products they can't use.

This was my first box from Birchbox and so far I'm quite impressed, as someone who loves discovering new products this is a great way for me to find new items without spending a fortune and I can't wait to see what the December box has instore. There are many other monthly beauty boxes available but having looked at them all this seemed the best one for me and is also one of the most well-known boxes. It costs £10 a month with £2.95 postage and packaging and you can cancel your subscription anytime you want.

So what did I think of the products? Well I haven't had time to try them all yet as the box contains five samples but the few I have tried I have really liked. Many of the brands I haven't heard of but a lot of them are from Paris. I tried the Lip Tar primer first of all which I had heard lots about, it's really nice, it smells great and is also really moisturising and also provides a great base for lipsticks, the wet brush-pro is also good and works just like a tangle teezer, the Nuxe moisturiser smells amazing and the Beauty Protector detangler and leave-in conditioner also smells amazing and really works! The only product I haven't enjoyed so far is the Darphin Essential Oil Elixir as I feel like it just sits on top of my skin and leaves it feeling greasy. I have to point out that I received two November boxes by mistake and confusingly one box contained a sample from the October box, but it contained different samples to the first box I received so combining the two boxes these are all the samples I have received...
I hope you have enjoyed this slightly different review and that it may help you in deciding which monthly beauty subscription to try, once I receive my December box I may review the contents.
