Matte lipsticks are so popular at the moment that I thought I would share my collection, I did not realise just how many I had accumulated in my makeup kit until I decided to write this blog post!
I absolutely love matte lipsticks and it seems that almost every makeup brand is releasing their own version so if you are new to matte lipsticks here is my collection and my thoughts on each lipstick which will hopefully help you find one you would like to try.

Thoughts
Dolce K by King Kylie cosmetics
Pros: The application is very smooth and it is definitely a true matte lipstick, it comes with a lipliner which is identical in colour to the lipstick which helps make it last longer. It feels comfortable to wear and isn't drying. The scent of vanilla cupcakes is overwhelming but I quite like it and I love the packaging!
Cons: It's very expensive and has to be shipped from America as it isn't available in this country and although it claims to be long lasting I find that it wears off after a couple of hours. Despite the fact that I like the colour, it is a lot darker than I had anticipated.
Cost: £30+ with shipping
Verdict? 4/5
Lip Lingerie by NYX in the shades Embellishment and Bedtime Flirt
Pros: I absolutely love the shades, Embellishment is a stunning purple colour and Bedtime Flirt is a nice peach nude. The application is smooth and they last longer than the Kylie Jenner liquid lipsticks and are also a lot cheaper! They are both true matte liquid lipsticks.
Cons: Both shades are very uncomfortable to wear and they are incredibly drying which is a shame as they are beautiful shades, they also flake off after eating and drinking.
Cost: £6.50 each
Verdict? 2/5

Revlon Ultra HD Matte lip colour in the shade Seduction
Pros: The colour is the perfect pink nude which is ideal for everyday wear, the application is smooth and it feels comfortable to wear. It also smells quite nice and I love the modern packaging. It lasts quite a long time, if I apply it at the start of the day it stains my lips until I take my makeup off.
Cons: Despite its claims this is not a matte lipstick, it dries semi-matte and it definitely has a noticeable shine to it.
Cost: £8.99
Verdict? 4/5
Everlasting Liquid lipstick by Kat Von D in the shade Lolita
Pros: I had heard lots about this range so I had high expectations, the colour is absolutely stunning and it goes on smoothly and dries matte. It feels quite comfortable to wear and is cruelty free, I love the packaging too!
Cons: This is definitely not an everlasting lipstick, after an hour or sometimes less it begins to wear off but not in a subtle way. It soon becomes patchy and uneven, if you want it to last all day you have to keep reapplying so the name is misleading, it also feels slightly tacky and takes a while to dry. It's also very expensive as it has to be shipped from America and I just feel that there are better liquid lipsticks on the market.
Cost: £30+ with shipping
Verdict? 2/5
P.S Velvet Matte lipstick crayon in the shade 01
Pros: This is the first product I have tried from Primark's range of cosmetics and I like the colour, it's a pink nude which is good for everyday wear and it's a crayon format which makes it easy to apply, it also feels comfortable.
Cons: This doesn't last and it doesn't look matte.
Cost: £2
Verdict: 1/5
Seventeen Mega Matte lipstick in the shade Nude News
Pros: There are many colours available in this range and as always I chose a nice neutral nude.
Cons: Too many to list! Application was tricky, the colour once applied looked very flaky and made my lips appear cracked and dry which isn't a good look! It didn't last long either. Definitely one to avoid.
Cost: £3.49
Verdict? 0/5
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick in the shade Nudist
Pros: I absolutely love the shade and it glides on very smoothly, it's fairly long lasting and very comfortable to wear, the shade is nude but with a blush of red.
Cons: I can't really think of any other than it doesn't smell very nice!
Cost: £8.99
Verdict? 5/5
Tips for a matte lip:
If you're going to try the matte lipstick trend then I highly recommend buying a lipscrub, I use the Mint Julip scrub by Lush Cosmetics and Carmex lip balm. I apply the lipscrub first and then buff it off, this gets rid of any flaky skin on my lips and then I finish by applying my lip balm to smooth them, I then pat away any moisture left by the lip balm with a tissue as lips need to be completely dry before applying a matte lipstick. I hope you have enjoyed this post and find a liquid lipstick you would like to try.
