Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude

Foundations, mascaras and lipsticks are my favourite products so I tend to build up a collection of them. Whenever I see a new foundation I have to try it and the new Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude was no exception.
This is the newest product from the double wear range and one thing I struggle to understand is the fact that it is called double wear when it is nothing like the original double wear. This claims to last up to 8 hours which is obviously not all day so I think the name is a bit misleading but what is the foundation like?

According to the official website, this is a sheer to medium coverage foundation which leaves a radiant finish, in other words this is not a matte or full coverage foundation like the original double wear. This product's unique selling point is the 'pro-tool' applicator which unfortunately I don't have any images of as I used a sample for this review. The pro-tool is basically a sponge on the end of the bottle which is supposed to help blend the foundation and can be unscrewed to be cleaned. A bit like having a mini beauty blender in the end of the bottle.

As I don't have the bottle I can't comment on how well the applicator works but I will say I like the design of the bottle and I think it's a good idea. On first impressions I noticed that this has a much stronger smell than the original double wear, it smells strongly of chemicals which is a little off putting but application was smooth and easy and I really like it.

It's definitely more sheer and leaves a much more natural finish compared to the other double wear foundations and it doesn't look cakey. One thing I was worried about was because it is sheer that it would be shiny, as any dewy or nude foundations have a tendency to look super shiny and oily on me but I was surprised to find that this is not shiny at all, it was only towards the end of the day I found that I looked a bit shiny. It stayed looking fresh for around 6-8 hours and after first applying it I found that it left a dewy and healthy finish, it was comfortable to wear and some people commented that it looked a lot lighter and natural than my usual foundation but would I buy it?
Well considering this is £28 for 14ml and you can buy the original double wear which is £28 for 30ml I can honestly say that I will not be purchasing this which is unfortunate as I quite like the foundation. I'm going to be honest and say that I find this to be a gimmick and you are paying for the pro-tool applicator, if this was a 30ml product then of course I would buy it as the actual foundation is nice. It also doesn't contain any SPF which is something I think every foundation should have, however I think this is ideal for those who love the double wear range of foundations but who want a more natural finish and I think it would be ideal to use in the summer months just as long as you remember to wear sun screen underneath.
